Baby Hillyard: Salt Lake City, Utah Newborn Photographer

First of all, I just want to say THANK YOU to all of my wonderful Utah clients who hire me for their newborn photography needs and a special thank you to all of those who pass my name along. You guys are awesome.

This newborn session also took place in the Salt Lake City/Holladay, Utah. I'm obsessed with that area! All of the beautiful trees and beautiful homes full of character - not like the cookie-cutter homes you see in Utah County. Not only was their area beautiful, but their home was newly remodeled and gorgeous. I'm always impressed with these remodeled homes and for the vision that the renovators can have to turn an old, out-of-date home (usually with a very closed floor plan) into something that looks modern and open!

Enough about houses - let's get to BABIES.

When I was contacted about this session, their baby was 8 weeks old and the mom's main concern was - will we be able to get good pictures since he was no longer a "newborn". And my answer was - of course! We may not be able to get the sleepy, super squishy newborn poses, but we will be able to get beautiful images. This little babe was an absolute angel and even fell asleep for some shots. One nice thing about an older baby is that they are much better at focusing and making eye contact with you AND at two months they are occasionally smiling. SMILING. It was the cutest.

I especially love photographing "first" babies. I relate so hard to first-time parents who are new to taking care of a little human. It's exhausting, overwhelming, amazing, and joyous. I love chatting with these parents about how the birth went, how nursing (or not nursing) is going, and how they are doing overall. I enjoy relating and empathizing with their struggles and triumphs and the overall insanity of being a parent. As a mom of two little ones, I still find myself struggling with balance of being a mom and being a human/daughter/wife/photographer/entrepreneur/creator/ and it's always nice to talk to other moms and realize that you're in the same boat.

Moral of the story, I love my newborn clients and I really do try to give them a great experience because I know how precious this time is with their little ones. After all, they're only this little once.
