Rachel and Connor decided they wanted their engagement photos taken at Silver Lake up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Unfortunately, we had a snow storm up in the mountains which forced us to rethink locations for beautiful fall engagement photos. I told them to meet me at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon and we would work our way up the canyon exploring and finding spots along the road.
There were so many beautiful spots with gorgeous light coming through and beautiful fall colors. I also found my new favorite spot with an amazing view with the light slowly setting over the mountain.
We started near the parking lot and our first pose I knew immediately that my job was going to be easy. These two were so enamored with each other that I'm pretty sure they forgot I was there! They just snuggled together, laughed, whispered in each others ears, and had a blast just being together. I love when couples aren't afraid of PDA and don't get intimated by a camera coming out. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does - it allows the couple's relationship with each other to shine through immediately!
Not everyone is like this and I make sure to help my couples feel at ease and make it a fun experience. My biggest piece of advice for couple who may be nervous about their upcoming session is to remember that your session is about YOU and your fiancé, not about the photographer. So don't worry about how you'll look in front of the camera or worry that you'll feel awkward or worry about following the photographer's direction. Just focus on your partner and how you feel when you're with them and a good photographer will showcase that in a beautiful way!
